Live Tracker24

You can use the
SPOT, your Android
smart phone with
Gaggle, or the
LiveTracker24, also known at the LiveBox, to broadcast your position in real
time. This makes to easy for folks at home to track your flights or the
competition, as well as keep your retrieval driver updated as she follows you
using her smart phone. I've written about the SPOT and the LiveTracker24 here:

When I was testing the LiveTracker24 in Big Spring I was taking my SIM card out
of my AT&T Samsung Android phone and placing it in the LiveTracker24 (which had
already been configured to use it). I decided that was a pain, so I went looking
around for a replacement SIM card that I could just leave in the LiveTracker24.

Of course, the LiveTracker24 needs a SIM card. You've got to combine the two
because unlike the SPOT which uses the satellite network, the LiveTracker24 uses
the cellular network, and in particular in the US I assume that it uses the AT&T
GSM/GPRS network.

I first tried this
SIM card and could not get it to work for me. Perhaps I wasn't able to
enable internet data on it. I'll try again later with that SIM. I couldn't get
any help from their help line as I was using the SIM card not in a phone but in
the LiveTracker24 which, of course, they knew nothing about.

I then noticed that there was another SIM card that should work for me when I
read about it
here.
I then went to
here and purchased the Plus version with $10 worth of credits. The
LiveTracker24 sends very small bits of data around, so it doesn't use up much of
your prepaid phone time.

I set up the APN (you always have to set up the APN on the LiveTracker24, APN
means Access Point Name on a GSM network) to "send.ee" after activating the card
(trivial), but it still didn't work. With Mario Santos' help I was finally able
to see that I needed to
change the
default configuration
of the One SIM card to enable internet data. I didn't
need to program the LiveTracker24 so you can ignore that part of the procedure.

You can find my test "flights"
here in Boise.

Which SIM card is used in the LiveTracker24's that are rented out to meet organizers (in Europe and at the PWC in Sun Valley)?
