Oct 29th 3PM Local Novice hang glider pilot with Crestline sign off launched into 12-14 mph
wind. After completing launch and 90° left turn to fly parallel to ridge pilot
induced 90° turn into hill while climbing into prone position wearing cocoon
harness. Landing was into a tree between two houses. No injuries other than
minor scrapes and bruises. Flight duration: less than a minute. Flight distance:
200-300 yards. Cause of accident is lack of attention to flight direction while
focusing on going prone. Nov 7th 4PM Local advanced hang glider pilot is distracted by a new radio arrangement and
fails to hook in prior to launching Crestline. Luckily the glider rises before
too much ground speed is obtained and the pilot falls down with no injuries. Hang
check... hang check... hook check hook check!
