So, I read with high interest about GPSDump now working on Android
phones. Definitely wanted to try it. We could load waypoints and get tracklogs
right at the field, with just our phone! No computer needed. Woohoo.
I downloaded the app and bought the special (USB on the go) cable.
Got my Flytec 6015... mehr

The day looked like it would be good with cu's and a northeast wind that wasn't
too strong. Forecast for convergence at 4 PM on the west side of the Green Swamp
over Zephyr Hills and north up to Lake Panasoffkee. Cloud base at 6,000'. Nice

We just doubled the number of wind indicators at Quest Air by installing three
new flags from Bob Maloney. These are great wind indicators especially when the

My second flight was in strongly thermic conditions at Porterville. Immediately
after take off it became apparent this wasn't a U2. It had significantly more
roll-lag than the U2 and felt more slippery. Flying clear of the terrain,
cranked it into a thermal and was thrilled to see how the... mehr

We only have two more years to fly there, because they will build
a new airport, and disrupt the route our flights! For pilots who have not flown,

William Olive known to his mates and others as Billo has been a
consistent visitor to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The attraction to this remote
area at the top end of Australia has mainly been the incredible wave cloud
phenomena named the “Morning Glory”. The series of roll clouds form when... mehr

I believe a sailplane with an open roof and club seating for six
people is feasible. I believe it should be done, to bring more people in a
social setting to touch the clouds. Now why not allow them to do so, whilst amid
this wilderness, yet to be comfortable, of course there must be some amenities.
And so... mehr

Easter weekend and half the pilots from the east coast and many
from Toronto are here filling up Quest Air and all the locals have come out
for tandems. They are running the crew ragged with Johnny Thompson off some
where, and Donnie taking the weekend off.

My task flight
here.Olaf landed early just before I took off and it was good lift all the way to
over 5,000' and the cold air. I headed north toward the turnpoint at the
Turnpike and just flew through lift almost all the way as I needed to get warmed
up again. Plenty of lift every where but got low east of Center Hill and
thankfully there... mehr

The north wind is still with us, but it's a bit warmer. It wasn't supposed to be
14 mph, which made Mitch's task call to the north undoable, but Mitch did the
sport task to the Gator field and back. The rest of us stayed local, other than
Olaf who drifted downwind.
BTW, the back cradle on my cart was a bit too... mehr
