Paul Voight at Fly High <<flyhigh>>
sends these remarks about his landing clinic:
The landing clinic was fantastic, I just wish the weather on
Sunday had been flyable but Ryan made up for it with a stockpile of landing
videos and excellent guided discussion. You have GOT to get into this if the
Voights put this together again....

here. Paragliding, of course.
Richard Jessop, 40, broke his back, legs and every bone in his
feet when he fell 200ft onto boulders but still remained conscious. He managed
to dial 999 and fired a distress flare before helping to guide rescuers to where
he lay in Snowdonia, North Wales.

Sadly the fatal mid-air at the 15m US contest is exactly what the
Flarm would have avoided.
Thanks to Martin.

9th of August - the first task: 95 km with three turnpoints, just
kind of ridge soaring back and forth. 37 pilots made goal. I made it to the
goal, but flew very slow. The task winner was Brazilian...

Both barometric pressure altitude (assuming the standard
atmospheric pressure of 1013.25 mb at mean sea level) and GPS altitude are
displayed by FS. Unfortunately only GPS altitude is checked automatically
against airspace height limits, not pressure altitude, which is required by the
CIVL Sporting Code. The scorekeeper has to manually...

The pre-Worlds is, as far as CIVL is concerned, a test competition
to determine if the organization and the site are ready for the Worlds the
following year. It is basically a shakedown curse for the organization, as far
as CIVL is concerned. At the end of the competition the CIVL steward hands in a
report to the CIVL Bureau with...

I spoke with Peter at Flytec today and it appears like your
initial thought that this was an organizer created problem was correct. The
airspace definition was not properly constructed. I have not looked at it myself
but he said that the airspace definition in question is not a closed shape and
that...

When loading or unloading Jonny's glider the day before, Tim
Ettridge fell and dropped the glider. The leading edge broke, although he didn't
know it at the time and the fall seemed insignificant. It was a
minor fall for it to result in a broken leading edge. The question that
naturally arises is, did he damage his glider when he crashed...

Stefano (the scorekeeper) investigates Corinna's Compeo+ to see if it has the right
data.
Stefano was thinking that somehow the data had been corrupted when it was transferred
to Corinna's Compeo+.
Of course, he found that the airspace definition on her Compeo+ was the one
that they downloaded to her Compeo+.

And no airspace restrictions.By far the best day since we arrived in Sigillo. The sky was full of paragliders
and hang gliders. Pilots contemplated flying to the coast.A few cu's but mostly blue. Light winds.Looks like it will be very good for the Dutch Nationals.
