http://soaringspot.com/2010bsn/Larry Bunner finished first at the goal at the Lamesa airfield, far ahead of
anyone else including Zac, who was second in.Given the return of our standard superb Big Spring weather with fluffy cu's and
south winds, the task committee chose a secondary task, a zig and a zag to
Lamesa, which became the primary... mehr

Tracy Tillman is heading up the search committee for a new
Executive Director (and he was a member of the previous search committee that

http://soaringspot.com/2010bsn/The forecast was for light winds so the task committee called an 120 KM FAI
triangle to the northwest, north, and back to Big Spring. The forecast was
uncertain with a stalled front over us. Seems like it will be around here again
tomorrow. Gary Osoba told us to wait as long as we could for the day to get... mehr

experience it, I'm sure you've heard stories of amazing flights from Mt.
Tamborine and Beechmont, and can't wait to blow out the winter cobwebs with... mehr

http://soaringspot.com/2010bsn/Larry arrives at goal first. Zac is fast. One tug down (out of two) so open
start times. I get sick in the air 50 km out, fly for forty more but have to
land. So I can't write much now.A little later, having recovered somewhat:One of the tugs had a problem so we were reduced to one tug. Zac came up with

Paul Montville has resigned as USHPA Executive Director,
apparently (as it is rumored) under pressure from the Executive Committee.
Rumors cite increased frustration on the part of the USHPA President. This seems to be a pattern at the USHPA where conflicts between the EC and the
ED are apparently endemic. mehr

The principle is simple, instead of waypoints there are sectors
(large), pilot must fly through all sectors in sequence given by organiser and
make the goal - but it is up to the pilots how deep in each sector to fly to
have longer distance (better average speed, as the time denominator is limited
by... mehr

Sunday was the first day of the 2010 US Nationals, taking place this year at Big
Spring, Texas. The cu's started popping at 9 AM, which is not a great sign,
because it indicates the possibility of over development. The National Weather
Service indicated that there was a front right over us that would stall,... mehr

On Friday, we drove into Big Spring from Dallas, at 5 PM. Cloud
base was 12,000+ (10,000' AGL). The temperature was 105 degrees, ten degrees
above normal. The cu's were widely scattered as you would expect for the time of
day and the height of the lift. No chance of OD.
Looks good for the US National Hang Gliding Championships.
Saturday was... mehr
