Decompressed yesterday after a long flight to Georgia with Davis, Greg, Cory and
Ken. All five of us made over 100 miles up past Starke, FL. Cloud streets
started at 10:30. I was ready to go by 11:30 and launched at noon into good
lift. Davis and I met up and flew the first 100 miles...

The Oz Report started in 1996 as an email list to pilots in the Pacific
Northwest to inform them of hang gliding in new locations, in this case in
Australia. And today we have Tove reporting on the Flatter than the Flatlands
competitions in Birchip, Victoria, Australia. Of course we met Tove soon after
we got to Australia in 96. She is still...

First day of Birchip comp. This is part of our awesome tow team.
Very challenging day between 1500ft and 2500ft most of the day. 72km task.
Thermalled out of the paddock with Emma in the Malibu. Flew on my own and when I
got to goal there was no one there! 6 pilots made it in the end. I'm very
grateful for making it today!

Our XCSkies forecast southeast winds at 10 mph at 2,000' at 2 PM rotating to
south southwest north near Jessup, Georgia. Strong lift, a top of lift at 5,000'
to 7,000' but no cu's. Actually whenever there is a southeast wind we have cu's
so we felt that it would be true on Wednesday also.
Ken was...

After a long flight to the north up highway 301 on Wednesday we'll probably
be in recovery mode today. Family members are watching their pilots fly far for
the first time as we continue to emphasize Live Tracking on Airtribune. There
are always issues with getting all the pilots getting their phones to work, but
it improves every time we...

Like new. Jonathan has provided great insights for pilots who own a glider
for more than a year. We've published his work on VG pulleys previously and now
taking care of the cross bar pins. I have pointed out before how important it is
to use the VG to adjust your speed. If it isn't easy to pull on the VG you will
be less inclined to do so....

My previous article about replacing all the pulleys on my T2C 144:

second sail. During the past year I noticed an increase in resistance from one
flight to the next when pulling on the VG...

https://airtribune.com/questxc/blog__day_8Big plans, but we didn't get very far. I was off first and the lift was weak and
chopped up. Not all that pleasant. Greg Dinauer, Cory Barnwell, and Ken Kinzie
came next. We all climbed slowly and we weren't getting that high. I pushed east
into the seven mph wind to find another lift line. As I...

Having a web site that can actually handle any traffic is expensive. Sure you
can start with a site at $5/month but if more than a couple of people try to get
on the site at the same time everything slows down. We are working on improving
our web presence. We spend over $250/month for a virtual private server, not
even a real dedicated...
