We had a pilot coming back to Quest Air today who apparently got
hit in the helmet by a big bird. We have a lot of big birds here in Florida. A
witness thought that two people felt out of the hang glider, but one was
apparently the bird. The hang glider pilot did crash after the collision with
the bird. He is being operated on tomorrow for a... mehr

111 kilometers to the south. A turnpoint at highway 192 and 27 to keep us out of
the Bronson property and get us over highway 27, the Florida ridge. Then goal at
Avon Park air field.
The forecast was for very high top of lift at 6,000' or maybe even 8,000' and no

for a task meeting at 10 AM before the pilot meeting at 11 AM. There was quite a

A front came through on Saturday with rain and high winds. The
winds were still a bit strong on Sunday morning, but the forecast was for the
winds dying down substantially in the afternoon.Belinda takes a photo that shows that the winds are much lighter.NAM was showing top of lift at 3,000' - 4,000' at 2PM on XCSkies. 4,000' -

gusts. This really wasn't strong compared to what we've been flying in recently
as we set out to head north. Still it was enough to discourage some from

April 1 - 3Friday: brings a healthy Santa Ana but it was a toss up as to whether it will
switch upslope in the last hour or two of the afternoon. If you are already at
the site it might be worth the drive up after 5pm.Saturday: An upslope switch by 10am and very nice thermals to perhaps 8K. It
