Its a remote-controlled plane with a computer in its belly that
can fly up to 400 feet above the ground, snoop quietly on wireless networks
below and attack one if it wants to. It can also pretend to be a GSM cellphone
tower, eavesdropping on...

The book
here.
Nick Lane's book, Oxygen The Molecule that made the World, is a
surprising volume. It mixes organic and inorganic chemistry with evolutionary
studies, paleontology, research medicine, and even a little engineering to
explain how the world got to be as it is. The first half of the book is
dedicated to what our early atmosphere...

failed both 3/32 cables and down...

Harness manufacturers keep optimizing pilot drag but how much of
the drag reduction is due to the pilot position and how much is due to the form
factor? How much back protection must we sacrifice in order to further reduce
drag? In the end, how much do we really gain?Recent tests...

Gary Osoba writes about the coming weather in Big Spring:
If we get seven degrees more then normal, that will give a
cloudbase of about 2,000' higher than normal and thermal strengths about 150-250
fpm stronger than normal. The other change this year is less wind than normal,
but enough to street things up some.

cables (the more flexible ones), or do you mean 1x19 2mm cables? The
difference is in the steel portion....

Until we get a better handle on which helmets are appropriate for
hang gliding
There was too much controversy about the requirement for EN 966
certified helmets at the Worlds in 2011 (and at the pre-Worlds). This level of
controversy and conflict is not healthy for hang gliding. We are here to have
fun and it is not fun to have these...
