For years, hang glider pilots have raved about the hospitality
they find in Big Spring. Saturday night, they displayed some generosity of their
own.
On the eve of the U.S. Hang Gliding Association National Championship, The

http://soaringspot.com/2011bsnThe NAM and the RUC were in conflict about the strength of the wind forecasted
for the afternoon. NAM said that the average wind at 2 PM would be 14-16 knots
from the southeast. The RUC was calling for 6 to 10 knots. The task committee
called a 145 kilometer triangle as the primary task based on the RUC forecast... mehr

http://soaringspot.com/2011bsnThe task committee called a big task, 380 kilometers (236 miles), the longest
task ever called in a competition. But they had a backup in case it looked like
the cu's might show up to the northwest and not to the northeast, 242 kilometers
(150 miles) to Muleshoe. During the 2007 Worlds the longest task was to... mehr

I was told by Vicki Cain that Heather had signed the petition. Who
is not going to believe Vicki? Later she told me that she meant that Heather had
"seen" the petition, not that she has "signed" the petition. When I found out
from Vicki what she had actually said, I corrected the error in the on-line
editions. Perhaps... mehr

We had/have very similar issues with our online reporting system
in Australia. The old system had the complete database falling into "a black

the hard copy form either. Maybe they see no benefit to a report that no... mehr

I've never understood this "No Fear" slogan. I have plenty of
fears. I have plenty of feelings. I feel my feelings when I'm getting setup,
getting ready to launch and launching. I feel my feelings when I'm flying and
when I'm landing. I never stop feeling my feelings. mehr

We drove south from Oklahoma City on Friday to Big Spring. No cu's
until we crossed the Texas border around noon, then there were a sky full of

degrees hotter than normal (100). We should be getting very high.

observation based on the following:
A. The pilot doesn't hold up the glider on the outside of the shoulders, but
rather on their neck. I would... mehr
