A reader suggests an appropriate punishment for pilots with "low" sprogs:
Could be running through a gauntlet of pilots holding paddles. With your sprog angles printed on a card around your neck!

Slowly I rolled to expose the zipper behind which my cell phone was stowed. My Blackberry Storm, the buggiest, most frustrating phone I ever paid a ton of money for. My only link to much-needed medical help. I picked that zipper open, one tooth at a time, balancing my arm, blinking sweat and dirt out of my eyes,...

Well after one and half years of filming with my Cannon SD 870 it is finally wearing out. I bought this camera so that I could have something small and easy to use in the air so that I could bring the latest films to your eyes.
If you feel that you have gained knowledge...

Gerolf Heinrichs <gerolfontour> writes (but not to me):
I am well aware that we are already in week thirteen since the annual CIVL meeting. I know - formally speaking - the mandate from the plenum has long expired, but despite us running out of time, handing it back to the CIVL bureau seems a no go, since the bureau got no mandate at all....

It is much easier to use the string method for measurement if you are on the factory floor at the Moyes factory, but good luck doing this in a tent in the landing zone at Laragne. One cow pie here and another one there. Also, try this on launch.
Measuring sprogs inside the sail? I don't see how that can work. You don't want the sail holding up...

My glider is a prototype of my own manufacture. I got some of the components from the manufacturer but not all of them. I assembled and adjusted my glider myself. The logos on it are advertising an established manufacturer that is all :). I take full responsibility for my glider as I am the...

Having fifteen years of experience in rulemaking and influencing peoples behavior, partly in the Dutch aviation authority, Id like to put forward a few thoughts on rules that are intended to make hang gliding safer.
I wonder what exactly is meant with making hang...

Kathleen reports, and pictures on a Dutch blog confirm, that they are measuring the difference relative to vertical between the keel and the sprogs. The measurement should be done as Flip did it in Laragne where the keel is first propped exactly horizontal. Putting the keel 15 degrees nose up, or...

Section 7A Hang Gliding; Classes I, II, IV and V 2009
There appears to be a great deal of confusion around prototypes in the CIVL Sporting code section A (that section which applies to competition). Lets try to clear up the confusion if possible.

This last weekend the CIVL Sprog workgroup was supposed to have made a decision regarding testing sprogs at the Worlds in Laragne. Dennis wrote on Friday:
One proposal is to have a two degree allowance and penalties and the second my recent one a public display of every pilot's sprog settings and no real penalties.
The Women\'s and Rigid Wing...

So today they measured my glider again, "because it was a hard landing yesterday" (I was asked by one official to go and have it measured again). The inside sprogs were 4 mm off and pitch police made me set the sprogs up another full turn. The seals from the first day...
