Wills Wing has donated $1000 to the US National hang gliding team to help offset their expenses at the upcoming Worlds in France. The expenses will be considerable (but then the enjoyment will also be considerable), and the team very much appreciates the help from Wills Wing and others.
Steve Kroop at Flytec is also a big supporter and has paid... mehr

I've been doing a fair bit of research into flying wing design and recently while reviewing a lot of info on model design I got a glimpse of the big picture and how important wing twist is in meeting stability and performance criteria. I may have uncovered some blind spots in current design... mehr

This story of a glider pilot trying to set the world altitude record in Hawaii was picked up by the Oz Report news scraper on the main web page (so you might have read about it there), but Achim Hageman, who lives in Hawaii, adds more material:

Quite a number of years ago my flying partner launched into an unforeseen dust devil. The resulting yaw and crash put him the the hospital with a broken pelvis. I thought of that incident when I came across this new instrument: http://www.catchthewindinc.com/products/vindicator.

You may have heard about the flood damage to Tiger Mt. road and LZ. Last year the bridge over 15-Mile Creek was washed out in November, and we were without vehicle access to launch until mid-summer, when DNR was able to repair the bridge. This year, when the big storm was forecast, Bob Hannah... mehr

I had just landed. SeeYou shows my pressure altitude at 1116' and the altitude of the airport at the spot I landed at 1114'. SeeYou shows my GPS altitude from my Flytec 6030 at 1293'.
The flight and task.
Just before I land, maybe two feet off the ground, I am pushed sideways while still facing into the wind:

Curt stayed in the air and Jonny went down on the last day of the Bogong Cup and that was enough for Curt to win the meet by 18 points. This gives Curt a chance at making the Australian National team (and make up for Forbes)... mehr

I was looking at my altitude graph in SeeYou for my flight yesterday. I have set my Flytec 6030 to display GPS altitude (actual real GPS altitude) by pressing and holding the ALT1 button and then pressing the GPS altitude soft button on the right. I love this function. I didn't make any changes or settings to the pressure altitude.
When my GPS... mehr

Insurance is a large HGFA expense. One question that arises is, is the level of third party liability insurance purchased by the HGFA appropriate for the sport and can it be reduced while still providing the needed coverage?
HGFA Members... mehr
