I was torn between going for it today or tomorrow. The forecast
(NAM) in the morning was for no cu's or very thin ones. But then they started
appearing before 10 AM. Now we had seen these early morning cu's before, and
they had all disappeared later in the mornings, to give us blue days, so it
wasn't clear that these cu's would we staying... mehr

The cu's line up from the south in front of the front. The forecast winds for tomorrow in Florida:We've had a few days of easterly winds in the 10 mph range, quieting down a bit
today. Still it has been blue every day, none of those Florida cu's that we now
vaguely remember. mehr

Check out the thirty mile cross country to Alva that local pilots

A funny, albeit weird, little video I made just for fun, for

The Sunday forecast was for for 300-400 fpm, top of the lift/cloud
base at 5,000', with an east northeast wind of 11 knots. There were supposed to
be a few cu's, thin ones. The wind had died down on Saturday so I was hoping for
a repeat.Ten of us lined up on the west runway with John Chambers first and I was second.

I heard later that some pilots down at Wallaby were flying and
staying up in very very light lift in the afternoon. Up at Quest there were a
bunch of tandems throughout the morning, but the regular pilots were holding
back as it was so dark on the ground from the shade and the sky was so white.
Finally, around 3:30 PM Steve Bellerby got... mehr

With a nine mph or so east southeast wind on Friday, light lift,
and the top of lift no more than 3,000', and often a lot lower, it was a yoyo
day for those of us who at first wanted to go south. Some folks (maybe four
pilots) from Wallaby and three from Quest drifted down wind hanging in the weak
lift as it pushed them toward the west... mehr
