This short film by Jeff O'Brien is sure to explain further what is difficult to

I am pleased to announce that Jeff O'Brien, Kent, myself and a few

I have received an email from one member of the USHPA Executive Committee offering his
personal apology for the letter that I received yesterday from Tim Herr, the USHPA lawyer,
demanding that I take off the Oz Report web site a copy of the
Competition Workgroup's proposal for changes to the USHPA Competition Rulebook.
The EC member also... mehr

If you've got a problem with a member of your association,
wouldn't you first give them a call (or write them an email) and see if it could
be worked out amicably? I mean do you reach for your pistol at the first sign of
trouble?
I've had a great time interacting with Tim Herr today, but it is a little
unnerving receiving a Cease and Desist... mehr

Got a nice email back from Tim. Thanking me for such quick action
re the Competition Workgroup proposal. A few minutes ago I linked to the
original document on the USHPA web site. Tim wrote:
Well, I don't know if fair use allows me to tell quote exactly
what he wrote, but, I'm not a lawyer. To paraphrase what he wrote it was that under

Tim Herr, USHPA attorney, has just sent me a letter (as an
attachment to an email with copy going to the USHPA Executive Director, Paul
Montville, who may or may not have been the instigator of this (I suspect
others)) demanding that I take the copy of the Competition Workgroup Proposal
that I had received (not the one I downloaded from the... mehr

The article.
Goss, who turned 89 earlier this month, never left the skies he
once helped patrol for his country, trading his B-17 bomber for a variety of
private aircraft, eventually leading to his hang glider, which he still flies
solo at least two days every month at the Wallaby Ranch in Central Florida. He was recognized three years ago by... mehr

CWG/LMR proposal for the Nationals and "national-level" competitions
requires that:
Sanction applications must be submitted to the Competition
Committee Chair two weeks prior to the Fall or Spring Board of Directors
meeting. Applications for the US National Championships will be reviewed at Fall
Meetings. All other B or C applications... mehr

Article.
Garmin has quietly released a pretty cool beta update for some of
their devices; the Colorado, Oregon and Dakota, specifically. This update allows
users to create image overlays in Google Earth, then load the resulting KMZ file
on their device. Once loaded, the overlay will simply appear as part of the map
when they view that area. mehr

The AP article
Running a marathon, grab a carbohydrate bar. Lifting weights, gulp
a protein shake. But climbing into a fighter jet? Butter-soaked lobster might
help. That was the surprising finding of a new military-funded study that sought to
figure out what types of foods were best for pilots when missions restricted
when or what they... mehr

The
CWG/LMR proposal for the Nationals, adds a bit to the burdens that they
place on the meet organizer for the "national-level" competitions:
In addition to the burdens detailed in the last article, the meet organizer
will:
1) Meet director will support one apprentice to assist and learn
through the USHPA Meet Director Apprenticeship... mehr

Lisa Tate writes:
"The work we do is sometimes controversial, often times due to misleading or false information provided by non-USHPA sources."
This is very uncool. This is not the first time that Lisa has used to USHPA magazine to launch an assault on the Oz Report. I suggest that if she doesn't want to get heat from me, that she stick to the... mehr

You should use 'use to' without a d in sentences when it follows
'did' or 'didn't' (don't worry too much about this because lots of people get it
wrong).

The
CWG/LMR proposal for "national-level" meets, basically all the same meets
that are currently USHPA sanctioned except the Nationals:
1) Include Sport Class
2) Two pilot mentoring sessions

in the event. All committee members must be a USHPA rated pilot with a... mehr

Why didn't Linda Salamone, Glen Volk, and Davis Straub (at least)
not get the recent email from Lisa Tate regarding the competition program, when
we had been receiving flying related emails from the USHPA all along?
Well, because somebody at the USHPA screwed up. Glen Volk writes to the new
Information Services Director at the USHPA, Robin... mehr

Maybe it's just me, but I have a real interest in having a nice healthy prefrontal cortex. As hang glider pilots we have no time to adjust as we get real high.
